About

I'm Bharath Kumar, a Game Developer and XR Developer with several years of experience building games and immersive experiences in Unity. Passionate about game development since childhood, I have worked on multiplayer systems, XR applications, AI-driven mechanics, and gameplay programming through professional experience, freelancing, and personal projects.

I led my team to finish in the Top 1% out of 2,200+ submissions at the All India XR Creator Hackathon 2024-25, a 3-month national-level competition open to startups, professionals, and students. My experience spans professional game development, XR leadership, and conducting Unity workshops, with a focus on building scalable, immersive, and technically robust experiences.

Games

The Outpost (RL)

A third person survival shooter where reinforcement learning powered enemies dynamically patrol, hunt and adapt to stop the player from completing a critical transmission.

Pressure Point

Created and released a hyper-casual mobile game onto the Play Store. It consists of a main game mode, endless mode, over 300 skins, monetization, a skin shop, and a power-up shop.

VR Projects

PhobiaXR

Ideated and created a VR-based phobia exposure therapy simulation that integrates live heart rate data from any smartwatch to dynamically adjust environmental intensity based on user stress levels. The project placed in the Top 1% of the All India XR Creator Hackathon 2024-25, a national-level competition open to startups, professionals, and students, which had over 2200 submissions. I handled all aspects of the VR and Unity development while also managing the team and coordinating the project.

Flight Simulator

Led a team to develop a realistic VR Flight Simulator in collaboration with the Aeronautical Department at MIT, Manipal. The simulator provides a complete experience, guiding users through every stage of flight - from takeoff, to cruising, to landing.

  • Developed gameplay systems for Lila BLACK, a multiplayer mobile extraction shooter

  • Built the FTUE tutorial to improve Day 1 retention

  • Built internal tools, including a data validation system for validating 1000s of backend data entries

  • Built a cross-platform AR remote assistance app in Unity using ARFoundation and WebRTC

  • Replaced the Agora SDK with a custom Node.js signaling server, cutting streaming costs by nearly 98%

  • Streamed AR camera feed to enable video calling, and synced hundreds of data points to clients using a custom codec
